BunkWise Privacy Policy

BunkWise ("the App") is developed as a local-first utility designed to help students track and schedule their class attendance. Your privacy is paramount to us. This privacy policy describes what information we collect, how it is used, and how your data remains fully under your own control.

1. Local-First Architecture

BunkWise is designed to process and store data locally on your device by default:

• Local Application Storage: All inputs (including subject names, timetable configurations, attendance records, and text notes) are saved directly on your mobile device's local storage (via standard browser LocalStorage).
• No Cloud Backend: We do not run databases or backend tracking servers. By default, your data never leaves your device.
• No Account Registration: The App does not require you to register, link social media profiles, or provide personal credentials (such as name, gender, phone number, or age) to function.

2. Google Drive Synchronization (Optional Cloud Backups)

BunkWise provides an optional cloud sync feature for notes and data. When you explicitly connect your Google account:

• Selective Folder Scope: BunkWise integrates with Google Drive using the secure drive.file scope. This restricts the App's access strictly to folders and files created directly by BunkWise. The App has no visibility or access to any other documents, photos, folders, or files stored in your personal Google Drive account.
• On-Demand Network Sync: Synchronization requires internet access. Note database states and compiled HTML files are uploaded directly from your device to your personal Google Drive space (under the BunkWise directory).
• Direct Peer Security: Data is sent directly from your device to Google's API servers. We do not inspect, intercept, copy, or host your sync queue or notes on any intermediate servers.

3. Third-Party Sharing

Because BunkWise does not collect or transmit your data to any external backend, we do not—and cannot—sell, trade, distribute, or share your personal info or application logs with third-party advertisers, analytic firms, or organizations.

4. Device Permissions

The App may request the following standard Android permissions to improve usability:

• Notifications: Used to schedule daily reminders prompting you to update your attendance.
• Vibration Control: Used to provide subtle haptic feedback for user interface actions.
• Network Access: Required to authenticate your Google login session and perform direct note uploads to your Google Drive folder.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about data handling policies.
